I love this strategy for heads-up games. I call it the re-raise/shove and it works like a charm on close to ANY board with close to ANY hand. As long as you only use it once or twice it’s extremely powerful. I usually pick my AK to AT kind of hands for this move, and usually like to have a chip lead to put a lot of pressure on my opponent…

Perfect example;

PokerStars Game #21259310621: Tournament #114669633, $11.00+$0.50 Hold’em No Limit – Match Round I, Level II (15/30) – 2008/10/17 0:57:20 ET
Table ’114669633 1′ 2-max Seat #2 is the button
Seat 1: Teh Jinx (1675 in chips)
Seat 2: damy8888 (1325 in chips)
damy8888: posts small blind 15
Teh Jinx: posts big blind 30
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Teh Jinx
damy8888: raises 90 to 120
Teh Jinx: raises 300 to 420
damy8888: calls 300
*** FLOP ***
Teh Jinx: bets 1255 and is all-in
damy8888: folds
Uncalled bet (1255) returned to Teh Jinx
Teh Jinx collected 840 from pot
Teh Jinx: doesn’t show hand
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 840 | Rake 0
Board
Seat 1: Teh Jinx (big blind) collected (840)
Seat 2: damy8888 (button) (small blind) folded on the Flop

It obviously helps that I made a pair in this hand, but it really is irrelevant. Your opponent will have a hard time calling you with bottom/middle pair, and even if he does you still have your good old overcards… Same goes for opponents calling your re-raise with pocket pairs when overcards flop…

I realize you’re risking a lot of chips, but that’s the whole strength of the play, so…
